From our series of reports marking the first 100 days after Morakot, today we meet some disaster victims from indigenous communities, who are thankful for the way Tzu Chi respected their religious beliefs. And Da Ai mothers are giving monthly lessons on moral education and the humanities to students of Kanjiao(崁腳) Elementary School.

1. 菲清真寺義診 Free dental clinic in Marikina City
The Philippines was ravaged by Typhoon Ketsana and then Typhoon Parma in successive months. The first to arrive and the last to leave, Tzu Chi volunteers in the Philippines have been helping storm-hit regions get back on their feet. Recently, volunteers arrived in Marikina City, to hold a free dental clinic at a mosque in the Barangay Tumana neighborhood.
菲律賓最近歷經了凱莎娜、芭瑪多次風災受創，慈濟人的關懷走到最前做到最後，志工再度回到馬利僅那市，在杜瑪那里的所清真寺舉辦牙科義診，志工也順便幫助清真寺更換地板，讓信眾祈禱時會更舒適。
< Many in need of help >
This is not a stunt performance. Walking upside down using his hands is Junior's only way to move about because both of his legs suffer severe deformity. He had planned on walking this way to Tzu Chi's free dental clinic. Luckily, a friend offered him a piggy ride. After having a mouthful of cavities treated by a dentist, Junior is happy again.

Having recently helped Marikina City recover from floods, Tzu Chi returned again on the 10th to hold a free dental clinic. A mother brought her son, who had a broken tooth; she says Tzu Chi never tires of helping those in need.
Marikina City resident:
"We are very grateful for Tzu Chi. Tzu Chi helped us clean up after the floods. I have participated in Tzu Chi's relief work program, too. I can't believe you are here again to offer your help."

The free dental clinic is held inside a Muslim mosque. Examinations are carried out by the windows with a lamp to ensure ample lighting. The mosque itself is in need of repair after the floods.

The imam of the mosque tells the volunteers that the flooring in the prayer room are in very poor shape, yet every Muslim must still show their reverence by kneeling on them. He would like to get new flooring but simply cannot afford it. Tzu Chi volunteers immediately took the imam out to shop for replacement, which Tzu Chi gladly paid for.

"We are very happy. Tzu Chi immediately agreed to help us. We are very grateful to Tzu Chi."

With the Buddhists and Muslims working together, soon the prayer room looked like new again.
Tzu Chi volunteer, Ferdinand Dy:
"We helped them replace the floor mats. Although we are Buddhists, and they are Muslims, we all want a disaster free world. With new floor mats, when they pray in the future, it's like we are praying together with them too."
Great love surpasses religions, uniting people together at this mosque in the Philippines.
頭下腳上的行走，不是耍特技，而是雙腳嚴重畸形的裘尼爾唯一能順利移動的方法，他原本要這樣走到慈濟義診場地，幸好朋友背他一程；滿嘴的爛牙，經過醫師的診治後，裘尼爾開心的笑起來。
不久前才協助馬利僅那市從風災中重新站起來，慈濟志工10號再度回來舉辦牙科義診，一位媽媽帶了斷了牙齒的兒子來求救，她說慈濟是助人永不倦怠。
馬利僅那市居民：「我們對慈濟非常感恩，慈濟來這裡幫助我們清掃環境，我也曾經參加過慈濟的以工代賑，想不到你們現在再次又幫助我們。」
義診場地是當地一家清真寺，每個診療椅都沿著窗戶，再加上一盞檯燈，補足醫護看診需要的光線，風災後，清真寺的地板也需要修補。
清真寺教長告訴志工，祈禱室的地板早已破舊不堪，但每位穆斯林不改虔誠，都跪著祈禱，他想更換地板，卻有心無力。志工二話不說，立即帶教長前往採購，由慈濟補助這筆經費。
清真寺教長 Imam Amir Macaurog：「我們真的很高興，慈濟立即答應了我們的請求，對慈濟我們充滿感恩。」
在穆斯林和佛教徒齊心合力下，很快的，祈禱室煥然一新。
慈濟志工 Ferdinand Dy：「我們幫助他們鋪設地板布，雖然我們是佛教，跟回教不同宗教，其實我們都希望天下無災無難，有了新地板，以後他們在祈禱的時候，就好像我們一起在跟他們祈禱。」
無私的心念，讓跨越宗教的愛在這菲律賓的清真寺匯聚。
2. 八八百日專題(二) 100 days since Morakot
Tzu Chi is also crossing religious boundaries here in Taiwan. In the aftermath of Typhoon Morakot, stranded mountain villagers were forced to take shelter in local Buddhist temples. Later, volunteers from Tzu Chi came to help the victims. Since many of the affected residents were indigenous peoples, who are predominately Christians, they were initially suspicious. But now, the bond between volunteers and victims has grown stronger and stronger. In today's segment of our current feature to mark the first 100 days after Morakot, we meet some of the disaster victims who have come to know Tzu Chi.
在台灣，慈濟跨越宗教的報導。八八水災過後，受災鄉親下山被安置在當地的寺院，後來村民遷到營區後，慈濟志工持續陪伴受災鄉親，然而許多受災鄉親都是原住民朋友，信仰基督教，一開始心存疑惑，不過災後一百天後，志工與受災鄉親相處下來，彼此的情感更加強烈。今天八八百日系列報導，要帶大家認識因災難認識慈濟的受災鄉親。

Indigenous villagers from Minzu in Namaxia Township perform at the Kaohsiung Dome on November 1. The Christian choir is singing a song composed by the Buddhist charity Tzu Chi, in the eight-part harmony style of the Bunun tribe.
< Crossing cultures, bridging faiths >
The mixture of cultures and faiths comes together in one cry. Every one of the singers is a victim of Typhoon Morakot.
Minzu Village resident, Liu Yuanchun:
"A lot are new-comers, but they were eager to take part. They said, since Tzu Chi wants to invite us, we are duty bound to take our culture to the world stage."
Some of the members of the Minzu Village Eight Part Harmony Choir died in the August 8 disaster. Village elder Liu Yuanchun(劉元春), who tragically lost his son and younger brother, put his grief aside to train new choir members.

He put them through a vigorous series of rehearsals, to display the best of Bunun culture. It wasn't easy. The villagers, who had lost loved ones and property, had little faith in the future, and trusted no one - including the Tzu Chi volunteers who were offering them new homes.
Minzu Village resident, Liu Yuanchun:
"At first, a lot of our elders, when Tzu Chi got into contact with us, were worried that Tzu Chi would drag us into their religion. But after getting to know each other over time, we understood that Tzu Chi didn't discriminate between religions."

Zhang Fansheng(張繁盛)'s family of five were also moved by the blue-and-white uniformed volunteers. His wife says they escaped death by a hair's breadth. If she had not seen a landslide swallow up the family home of 30 years before her eyes, she says she would not have believed it.
Minzu Village resident, Zhang Jiang Yuxia:
"It was gone in a few seconds. It was unbelievable. I didn't know whether to cry or what. But then I thought, if it's gone, it's gone. As long as we are still alive, we have a chance to get it back."

The family is currently sheltering at a military school, where Zhang Fansheng and his wife have started volunteering. When the couple do not have temporary work to go to, they sweep and mop the floor at the dormitory. They are even persuading their fellow community members to recycle.
Minzu Village resident, Zhang Fansheng:
"It's environmentalism! The globe is warming up, so we're doing our best to cut emissions. We do what we can. In our environmental work, we have to do a a good job."

It has been 100 days since the 8/8 disaster. We follow flood victims back to Qianghuangkeng(羌黃坑) in Tainan County's Nanhua Township. The old mining community was completely swept away.
Qianghuangkeng resident, Jiang Huang Xiumei:
"This main door was all mud. It was up to here. See, the water was as high as this."
< Trauma comes flooding back >
Looking around the now uninhabitable home, Jiang Huang Xiumei says in the past three months, each time she thinks of the disaster, the emotional trauma comes flooding back.

"See, it was flooded up to here! It was water and mud."

Until she received Tzu Chi's quick and lasting support, the resident did not believe the disaster relief aid she had seen on television would reach her. On the first night when the entire village was safely evacuated off the mountain, Jiang Huang Xiumei recruited 25 neighbors become Tzu Chi members.

"Master Cheng Yen helped us so much, so shouldn't we make some charity donations to the Master to help us and help other people?"
< Ubiquitous blue and white uniforms >
In the 100 days since the disaster, the blue and white uniforms of Tzu Chi have been a constant and comforting sight. Morakot victims have decided to get back on their feet sooner rather than later. They realize they grasp opportunities to build a better tomorrow.

"Later, I can move into a Tzu Chi house."

"Our community may have gone, but our spirit of unity is even stronger."
11月1號，那瑪夏鄉民族村民在高雄巨蛋演出，這個基督教團體合唱團，以布農族八部合音唱出了佛教團體慈濟所創作的歌曲。不同種族、宗教融合為一，站在台上每一位歌手，全都是八八風災受災戶。
那瑪夏鄉民族村民 劉元春：「很多都是新人，但是他們都很樂意參與，說慈濟既然要邀請我們的話，那我們就義不容辭的把我們這個文化發揮到全世界。」
其實民族村八部合音組員有幾位已在八八風災中往生，部落長老的劉元春，在風災中痛失兒子跟弟弟，他擱下了自己的悲傷，帶領族人練唱。一次又一次的排練，只為了讓布農族文化延續，但卻不容易，村民失去親人失去家園，原本對未來、對任何人都不信任，其中也包含了要為他們興建永久住宅的慈濟人。
那瑪夏鄉民族村民 劉元春：「一開始的時候有很多長老，慈濟在跟我們接觸的時候，他們就很擔心說慈濟可能會拉攏我們信仰他們的宗教，但是持續相處後，久而久之才瞭解，慈濟是不分宗教。」
張繁盛一家五口深受藍天白雲身影感動，他的太太說，他們在千鈞一髮中躲過一劫。若不是親眼目睹土石流吞噬他們奮鬥三十多年的家，她說她實在很難相信這一切。
那瑪夏鄉民族村民 張江玉霞：「幾秒鐘就沒有了，真的太不思議了，那時候我不曉得要哭嗎，還是怎樣，但是我想說沒有就沒有了，只要我們命保住，還有機會再給他賺回來。」
目前張繁盛夫婦和村民被安置在工兵學校，夫妻倆也開始當起了志工，沒有外出打零工的時間，夫婦兩人就在宿舍打掃環境，甚至帶動族人一起做資源回收。」
那瑪夏鄉民族村民 張繁盛：「環保嘛，地球已經在暖化中了，我們當然是盡量做減碳的部分，我們盡量做到，在環保工作的崗位上一定要做好。」
八八風災屆滿百日，我們隨著受災鄉親回到台南縣南化鄉羌黃坑，這個社區已經被大水沖毀。
南化鄉羌黃坑居民江 黃秀美：「當初這門口大廳都是土，到這裡高，你看水都到這裡。」
指著滿目瘡痍無法再居住的家，江黃秀美說，這三個月來每每想起這場災難，心裡的恐懼還是揮之不去。
台南玉井羌黃坑居民 江黃秀美：「你看都掩到這邊上去，水跟土。」
要不是親身受到慈濟志工迅速且持續的關懷，村民很難想像，電視上播放受援助的畫面會出現在自己身上，所以在全村被緊急撤離到山下的第一個晚上，江黃秀美就號召25戶左鄰右舍成為慈濟會員。
台南玉井羌黃坑居民：「上人幫我們這麼多，我們是不是也該替上人收一些善款這樣，幫助自己也幫助別人。」
風災過後一百天了，藍天白雲的慈濟志工持續陪伴災民膚慰鄉親，受災鄉親決定 盡速揮別傷痛，他們保握機會，積極努力迎接未來。

3. 重返那瑪夏 Revisiting Namaxia, 100 days later
The record-breaking rainfall dropped by Typhoon Morakot in early August caused the worst mudslides ever in Namaxia Township, Kaohsiung County - with Minzu Village suffering the worst. The damage to the terrain has been extensive, with much of the ground either collapsed or newly exposed, leaving behind many hidden dangers that may again cause catastrophe with the next heavy rain. Experts warn that the villages could easily be destroyed again if they are not relocated; in addition, the landslides badly damaged Nanzixian River, putting an endangered Taiwanese fish called Deep-Body Shovelnose Minnow at even greater risk than before. Expert biologists are uncertain if their habitat can be recovered. 100 days after the 8/8 disaster, Da Ai news is returning to Namaxia Township.
八八風災破紀錄的雨量，造成高雄縣那瑪夏鄉歷年來最嚴重的土石流侵襲，其中以民族村遭受的衝擊最大，地形地貌嚴重被破壞，山區處處都是崩塌凹陷的山壁，隱藏著危機，隨時可能因為豪雨再次崩塌。專家呼籲，原本崩塌處底下的部落不遷移，恐怕隱藏被滅村的危機。而楠梓仙溪也遭到土石流破壞，影響原本復育國寶魚高身鯝魚的河道以及護漁區，專家說棲地復原遙遙無期。八八風災一百天過後，大愛新聞重返那瑪夏鄉。
< The terror of impending doom >
Helicopter rescues were the only choice: when the 8/8 disaster burst down upon Namaxia Township, the residents fled in a desperate panic. Even now, 100 days past, the roads to Namaxia are still broken; the area's only link to the rest of Taiwan is a small road through the Dapu Chashan village, in neighboring Chiayi county.
< A hard slog over high mountains >
Driving over the mountains along this winding trail, the road is hard to travel. Rocks have been cleared by simply pushing them aside, but at least the road is navigable. After 5 hours of this slow going, we arrive in Namaxia Township; the scenes that greets us is tragic. Landslides are merciless killers, devouring schools, churches and homes alike. Once a haven for children, this school cannot say when classes might start again.
Namaxia villager:
"I helped with the emergency relief. I was elsewhere, and came to help clean; I had arranged for a backhoe, but when I arrived, I wept."
< Honest, simple, and homeless >
These villagers are honest and simple, arriving each day to help with the work. But no matter how deep backhoe digs, these men and women all know that Namaxia Township will not be coming back as before. Looking at the mountains, one sees one gaping hole after another. Environmental and ecological experts also point out that the 8/8 crisis hasn't yet lifted.
Tainan Community University lecturer, Xu Shuru:
"You don't know when the next disaster will hit, or how nature is going to change the situation. We are very worried that the collapsed areas have become like funnels, and when water gathers at the bottom, they may collapse again. It's terrifying."
< A time bomb, ticking beneath the ground >
Exposed earth without plant protection is like a ticking time bomb, and a great threat for villages that lie down the mountain. The Bunun have lived here for generations, and have been active in working to recover the tiny and endangered Deep-Body Shovelnose Minnow population. Yet now, the ecology has been ravaged; compared with before, the once beautiful Nazixian River has been changed to piles of mud. The minnow's protected area in the river's upper reaches appears to have been destroyed entirely.
Tainan Community University professor, Huang Huanzhang:
"We can easily see, now, that bamboo forests have weak root systems. That's a big part of this disaster. The first areas to erode were the bamboo forests, so if we want to solve this, we should start with improving the forest areas first."
< From idyllic paradise to wasteland >
The Deep-Body Shovelnose Minnow once swam happily in these waters, and the people of Namaxia worked to guarantee its recovery. But this once-in-a-century disaster destroyed everything in moments, reminding us all that nature always has the power to strike back against human depredations. The only means to rebirth for these once-beautiful waters and mountains is for humans to retreat, and give nature a rest.
搭乘直生機逃離家園，也是迫不得已，八八風災毀了那瑪夏鄉，部落居民倉皇逃生，只是一百天過去後，前往那瑪夏的道路依然中斷，只有從嘉義縣大埔茶山村可以進入。車子開在蜿蜒小徑，翻山越嶺，路況顛簸難行，路的兩旁全是被推開的土石，但道路至少通暢。五個小時車程，終於來到那瑪夏鄉，但是放眼望去的景象，幾乎百廢待舉。
土石流有如猛獸，無情吞噬整座小學，還有教堂和家，這裡曾經是孩子受教育的堡壘，如今何時復課，難有個時間表。
那瑪夏鄉民：「我幫忙救災的工作，我在外面，來這裡要幫忙清理，聯絡怪手也過來，到這裡看到，我真的是哭。」
淳樸的村民，上山協助清理救災，但是任憑怪手再怎麼開挖，受災鄉親心知肚明，那瑪夏鄉已經不再安穩。看著山上出現一個個崩塌凹陷的大窟窿，環境生態專家也指出，八八風災的危機尚未解除。
南社區大學講師 許淑茹：「你不知道下一次的風災，這個大自然變化會是怎麼樣，我們很擔心崩塌地很像漏斗，底下沒有了，水量到時候匯集在底部，大量沖刷下來的時候，很恐怖的。」
少了植被保護的崩塌山壁，就像不定時炸彈，隨時威脅底下的村落，過去布農族子民世世代代居住這裡，也積極投入復育高身鯝魚的護溪運動，但是生態毀壞兩相比較，美麗的楠梓仙溪現在只剩下滿堆土石流，上游河川高身鯝魚的保護區儼然破壞殆盡。
台南市社區大學教授 黃煥彰：「因為我們看到竹林的抓根性其實很弱，跟這次很有關係的就是山上的種植問題，第一波崩下來的幾乎都是竹林，所以如果要治水，應該先從山上種樹改進起。」
以往自在悠游水底的高身鯝魚，是那瑪夏鄉民積極要復育的生態，但是一場世紀災難瞬間摧毀一切，大自然反撲的力量讓地形地貌嚴重破壞，映證了唯有讓山林休養生息，逝去的美麗山河才有重生的一天。
4. 災民連鎖磚 Installing interlocking bricks
Tzu Chi's Pingtung chapter recently installed a brickwork patio in the courtyard of their chapter grounds. Many volunteers came to help, including some victims of Typhoon Morakot who have been helped by Tzu Chi. Working together, everyone enjoyed volunteering for a good cause.
慈濟屏東分會前廣場準備連鎖磚的鋪設，不僅許多志工和民眾主動來協助幫忙，八八風災中曾經受過慈濟協助的災民也主動來參與，大家一起享受無私的付出。

Everyone here inside the van were victims of the 8/8 floods. They volunteered themselves to lay down interlocking bricks at Tzu Chi's Pingtung chapter grounds.
Typhoon Morakot victim, Zhang Youci:
"I want to do something, to contribute myself. I don't want to publicize it. It's private. I want to contribute without others knowing."
Typhoon Morakot victim, Chen Zihua:
"I came from the disaster area; over there by Wandan(萬丹) in Houzhuan(後庄)."
< Using recycled bricks >
Cheering each other on and working in rhythm, now those who were in need of help are lending a helping hand to continue the relay of love. All these bricks were recycled.
Tzu Chi volunteer, Yang Zhicheng:
"In Kaohsiung City's Dapingding(大坪頂) Park, they are removing these bricks to install a bike trail."

Many of the volunteers are also from nearby neighborhoods. Young and old, everyone is giving what they can, linking their love together strengthening each other and the community.
車子裡都是八八風災受災的鄉親，聽說慈濟屏東分會要鋪設連鎖磚，他們自告奮勇趕來。
八八受災鄉親 張佑慈：「我想要做我想要付出，我付出不想要跟人說，我要做，放在我心裡，不要跟人說。」
八八受災鄉親 陳姿樺：「我從災區來的，就是萬丹後庄。」
爽朗的喲喝聲、愉快的氣氛，當初需要幫助的人如今可以幫助別人，讓愛傳出去，這些連鎖磚也都是回收再利用。
慈濟志工 楊志成：「高雄市大坪頂的公園，要把公園步道換成自行車跑道，把它裡面的連鎖磚都鋪起來。」
社區裡的大人小孩也都來幫忙，大家通力合作，讓愛扎扎實實的凝聚在一塊，豐富彼此，也讓社區更團結。

The American Family Coalition seeks to strengthen marriages through the application of family education and positive family policies, reduces youth violence and high-risk behaviors such as sexual promiscuity through enhanced parenting, youth leadership, character education, and positive role model initiatives, and promotes faith-based community building initiatives to address addictions and other social issues.
5. 崁腳大愛媽 Da Ai mothers bring inspirational lessons
Kanjiao (崁腳) Village is an old mining area in Wanli Township of Taipei County. Many of its working-aged residents have left in search of jobs elsewhere. Kanjiao Elementary School is a small institution with only 52 students, so the teachers and children are very close. Since September, Tzu Chi's Da Ai mothers have been coming to the school every month, to give the children special lessons on moral education and the humanities.
台北縣萬里鄉的崁腳村是個舊礦區，許多工作年齡的居民都到其他城市尋找工作機會，崁腳國小學生只有五十二人，師生的感情相當好，大愛媽媽九月開始每個月來拜訪這所學校，用愛帶來品格以及人文教育。
< A lesson children look forward to >
The energetic opening by the Da Ai mothers instantly captivates the youngsters. The lyrics about being happy are a lesson in themselves.
Look at me, I don't have beautiful colors on me.
In the skit, the forest animals hold a pageant, and the contestants are either diffident, too full of themselves, or overly critical of others. The young audience sits riveted, and discovers for themselves the moral of the story.

We will work on our shortcomings, give compliments and learn from others.
Da Ai mother, Pan Peijun:
"Every time we visit the schools, it is a learning experience for me. The responses we get from kids are something for us to contemplate. For us, we still care very much about what others think of us, it's hard to remain impervious to criticisms. This is what I learned today."

< Tzu Chi's monthly visits to Kanjiao >
The little game with the magnifying glass as a prop shows youngsters how to better appreciate their peers, and be appreciated in return. In this tiny school of 52 students, Tzu Chi volunteers' monthly visits, beginning in September, are having a positive effect on the pupils.
Kanjiao Elementary School principal, Ye Xixin:
"The lessons are great. Our kids are paying a lot of attention and are behaving very well. I'm positive the kids can feel the humanity and love in these visits."
Formerly a mining area, Kanjiao Village has suffered a population drain. As many children are left in the care of their grandparents, local teachers and Tzu Chi volunteers are offering their support to make growing up easier for Kanjiao's youngsters.
大愛媽媽活潑的開場，緊緊抓住孩子的注意力，關於快樂的這首歌，也是一堂課。
「你看，像我身上又沒有很鮮豔的顏色。」劇場裡，森林裡的動物舉辦選美大會，參選者要不是沒自信就是太自負，或是很愛挑剔他人。孩子們看得仔細，也發現了故事的涵義。
我們會改掉自己的缺點，多讚美和學習他人的優點。
大愛媽媽 盤姵君：「每次出來的時候，我都覺得是一種學習，包括孩子給我們的答案，都是讓我們省思的。我們還是一樣，沒有辦法別人對我們說什麼，我們不為所動，這就是我今天最大的學習。」
優點？很活潑。
放大鏡的遊戲，讓學生學到如何看到別人的優點，也讓別人欣賞自己的優點，在這所只有52人的迷你學校，慈濟志工從九月開始每個月都來拜訪，帶來了正面的影響。
崁腳國小校長 葉錫鑫：「課程非常的棒，孩子上課很專注很認真很安靜，所以孩子應該會感受到那一種人文的氣息跟愛的關懷。」
崁腳村原本是礦區，有人口外流的問題，很多小孩都是給祖父母照顧，也因此師長和大愛媽媽希望能陪著孩子一起好好成長。
6. 星社教成果 Another milestone for 4-year-old center
Singapore's Tzu Chi Community Education Center started offering courses in October 2005. For four years, students have come to study music, art and other skills. At the graduation ceremony this year, the students showed off what they had learned. Many of the students came from the same families. They say learning together has improved their relationships at home.
新加坡的慈濟社教中心，從2005年10月開始開辦課程，到現在已經有四年，在才藝課程中也傳遞人文，今年的結業典禮成果展中，展現出學員的學習成果，現場充滿濃濃人文氣息。

"When we talked to them before, it was about homework. After they joined the photography class, we could talk about taking pictures, where to go to take pictures. Our relationship got much better."

Singapore's Tzu Chi Community Education Center has been holding courses for four years. This semester, many of the students are from the same families; so class is like a family outing. The three sisters playing the guzheng on stage have not only improved their skills, but have also become closer.
Student, Yang Shimin:
"At home we didn't have much in common, but now we talk about the guzheng(古箏), what songs we're learning, which parts are hard to play, and how to play them. If you can be friends with your family, and learn a new skill together, it's pretty good."

Like they say, a minute on stage takes ten years of work. The sign language and choreography was hard for these mothers at first, but after hours of practice, they put on a great show.

The joy of nailing a performance is something to be shared with the whole family.
父親和兒女一起坐在電腦前，分享彼此拍的照片，這樣的好感情，在三個人一起參加攝影班之後更加增長。
學員 黃來發：「以前我跟他們交談，主要是在功課，在他們參加攝影班以後，我們可以討論一些拍照啊，去哪裡拍照啊，我們之間的關係也增加了不少。」
新加坡的慈濟社教中心，連續四年開辦課程，這學期有不少學員都是家人一起來上課，每週的上課日就是家庭日。三姊妹同坐台上表演古箏，一學期的課程，增進了彈奏技巧，更增進了姊妹感情。
學員 楊詩敏：「在家，以前也沒有什麼話可以講，現在就會講說古箏，我們學的歌哪裡很難彈，指法怎麼彈，如果可以的話，跟家人還是朋友，一起來學習一項新的才藝，是蠻不錯的。」
台上一分鐘台下十年功，原本比手語舞蹈，對這些媽媽們來說一開始很吃力，不過幾個小時的練習後，果然有了好表現。這份喜悅，也要和來捧場的親朋好友一起分享。
7. 峇株巴轄結業 Tzu Chi graduation feast
Students from Tzu Chi's Happy Children Achievement Class in Batu Pahat, Malaysia recently celebrated the completion of their studies, with a banquet. The invited teachers and parents were surprised to see the children had managed everything from buying the groceries, to even cooking the food.
在馬來西亞峇株巴轄，人文學校慈幼班的結業典禮，學生們舉辦了一場豐盛的筵席，令老師與家長們驚訝的是，不管是買菜到做菜，孩子們全程一手包辦。

It takes a well-trained eye to pick out the best vegetables, but graduates from Tzu Chi's Happy Children Achievement Class in Johor, Malaysia are ready for the challenge.
Student, Chen Jihong:
"1.8kg of rice and two coconut sugars, no wait four coconut sugars and two pieces of ginger."

Even though they are novices, the 29 little chefs handle everything, from washing, peeling, chopping, and stir-frying. With teamwork in three short hours, they make an eight-course banquet.

A two-day camp has been set up to celebrate the children's graduation. The children personally serve their parents sweet rice ball soup to express their filial devotion.
< A role model for the children >
Another special guest is on his way. Climbing up the stairs is a feat for Su Yongcheng(蘇永城). The disabled student is here to tell the children how he always studies until late at night.
Special guest speaker, Su Yongcheng:
"I arrive at home by 3pm, and with out taking a break, I directly go take a shower and then do my homework till past midnight."

To get a feel of Su Yongcheng's daily struggles, the children climb the stairs themselves. Their teachers hope the experience will teach the graduates to always be grateful for what they have.
選好的蔬菜，可是需要一對銳利的眼睛，但是馬來西亞新山的慈幼班畢業生已經準備好迎接挑戰。
人文學校慈幼班學生 陳紀宏：「1.8公斤的米，和兩片兩個椰糖、四個椰糖、兩片小的薑。
雖然是新手，但是這29位小廚師什麼都自己來，包括洗菜、剝皮、切菜，還有炒菜，才三小時，就做出八道料理。
人文學校慈幼班的結業典禮，舉辦為期兩天的營隊，孩子親手餵爸媽吃湯圓，表達孝意。還有一位特別來賓蘇永城，對他來說，走樓梯是一件苦差事，這位身障學生來這邊與小朋友分享，他每天讀書都讀到好晚。
蘇永城：「回到家三點多，沒有休息就去沖涼，之後就做功課做到十二點多。」
小孩子爬樓梯，親身體會蘇永城生活上的不便，老師希望這次的經驗能教導孩子，凡事都抱著感恩的心。

8. 美總會水電班 Basic home maintenance course a hit
Calling out a plumber or an electrician can be very expensive in the United States. So home owners consider it a blessing if they can fix a faulty tap or mend a lose connection on their own. That's why the US Tzu Chi Headquarters recently opened a course on basic home maintenance, to teach people some DIY. The classes were a hit, and people flocked to sign up.
美國水電修繕費昂貴，壞掉的水龍頭或是馬桶，如果能夠自己維修，實在是再好不過了。慈濟美國總會推出居家水電維修班，每個人都可以當自己的水電工，課程大受歡迎，一推動報名立刻額滿。

This is Wang Zhendong (王鎮東), a licensed electrician and plumber in California with ten years of experience, as well as a volunteer at the local Tzu Chi Academy. Today, he is a lecturer on basic home maintenance.
DIY student:
"My wife told me that since I've retired I might as well learn something about home maintenance."

The basic home maintenance course offered by Tzu Chi-US National Headquarters runs for six weeks, with 30 places available. The seats sold like hot cakes, and there are now more female than male students.
DIY student, Xie Shuzhen:
"I signed up so that when my husband is away, I won't be all helpless when a problem comes up."

The course has proven to be a popular one, equipping the students with the skills that will help them save money by becoming their own plumbers and electricians.
王鎮東具有十年加州水電維修工程執照，本身也是人文學校愛心爸爸，今天毫無保留傳授大家維修小秘訣。
學員：「我太太講說，你既然退休了，那就學一些居家工程這方面的東西。」
美國總會的居家水電維修課程，每一期六周，招收三十名學生，每次報名立即額滿，尤其女性學生比男性還多。
學員 謝淑禎：「學一點，先生不在時，有問題時才不會手忙腳亂。」
居家維修課程相當受歡迎，學生學到了可以省錢的技術，自己當水電工。
9. 尋失物愛因緣 Tzu Chi bag lost and found!
On one of her weekly trips to volunteer at Tzu Chi's Dajia liaison office, Li Yuefeng(李月鳳), from Taichung's Da-an Township, lost her Tzu Chi bag when a strong wind blew it off of her motorcycle. When Li realized her bag was gone, she immediately reported it to the Da-an Police Station, where she was assisted by two attentive policemen. After searching the gutters and paddy fields, they finally recovered the bag from a nearby field that lay along her route. Overjoyed to have her bag again, Li went with her fellow volunteers to the station to thank the two policemen in person.
最近騎機車到大甲聯絡處固定做志工時，台中縣大安鄉慈濟志工李月鳳放在機車上的慈濟包被強風吹落，李月鳳發現皮包遺失相當焦急，到大安分駐所報案，所幸兩位員警相當熱心，水溝稻田都幫忙找，終於在馬路旁的稻田裡尋獲失物，李月鳳很感恩，和慈濟法親專程到派出所，對兩位熱心的警員獻上無限感謝。
< Bag blown away by strong wind >
Every Monday, for seven consecutive years, Li Yuefeng has been riding a motorcycle from her home in Da-an Township to Tzu Chi's Dajia liaison office, where she volunteers. Recently, on one of her trips there, she lost her Tzu Chi bag, blown away by strong wind.
Tzu Chi volunteer, Li Yuefeng:
"Health insurance card, ATM card, and many of my IDs were in there. What worried me the most were my volunteer card and my Tzu Chi vest. If I lose these two things, I won't be able to participate in Tzu Chi's events and prayer services, and I won't be able to go out and volunteer."
< Case reported to police >
After reporting her situation to the police, Li was assisted by two attentive policemen, who immediately set out in their patrol car to look for the bag.
Da-an Police Station policeman, Su Jintong:
"The gutters, paddy fields: we searched all over for her, and we suddenly discovered a bag in a field. So, we asked her to come and confirm if it was hers. And it was!"
Tzu Chi volunteer, Li Yuefeng:
"I looked for it five times by myself already. I couldn't find it! But the police found it in no time. I'm very grateful."
< Attentive policemen come to the rescue >
To express her gratitude, Li and her fellow Tzu Chi volunteers made a special trip to the Da-an Police Station to thank the two policemen.
Da-an Police Station policeman, Jiang Jinyi:
"She was really nervous at the time. After we found it, she seemed comforted. It felt like she was crying out of joy."
Tzu Chi volunteer, Li Yuefeng:
"I'm so thankful that Master Cheng Yen created Tzu Chi, so I could become a volunteer. Saving up on love, I've already saved a lot, and I will continue to volunteer in Tzu Chi."

For Li Yuefeng, a decade of Tzu Chi has not only given her wisdom, but also good affinities with many kind-hearted people along the way.
連續七年來，李月鳳每個星期一都會從大安鄉住家，騎機車到大甲聯絡處當志工，最近一次做志工途中，她的慈濟包從機車上被強風吹落遺失。
慈濟志工 李月鳳：「健保卡、提款卡，很多證件都在裡面，我最擔心的是我的志工證，還有慈濟背心，這兩樣東西如果遺失，我就不能參與活動，助念，就沒辦法出門做志工。」
李月鳳趕緊報案，兩位警員相當熱心，立即開巡邏車沿路尋找遺失包包。
大安分駐所警員 蘇金童：「水溝、稻田，我們都幫她找，突然在稻田發現一個包包，我們趕快叫她過來看是不是她的東西，確定是她的。」
慈濟志工 李月鳳：「我自己找了五次都沒找到，警察先生一找就找到了，真的很感恩。」
李月鳳和慈濟法親專程到派出所，對兩位熱心的警員獻上無限感恩。
大安分駐所警員 江進益：「當時蠻緊張的，找到後看到她蠻欣慰的，喜極而泣的感覺都出來了。」
慈濟志工 李月鳳：「我很感恩上人創造慈濟，讓我能做志工，做愛心來存，我已經存了很多愛心，我還要繼續做慈濟。」
十多年的慈濟路，李月鳳說賺到福慧，還結下了無數的好因緣。
